God Needs 'Mountain Movers' (Prayer Intercessors)

Intercessory Prayer, God Needs ‘Mountain Movers’ July 25, 2020 Larry R Evans There is something about the simple trust of little children that is inspiring.  While standing high above a parent they are willing to jump into the open arms of the waiting father or mother.   As we get older and bigger, we don’t dare jump into the arms of someone standing below. We compare our weight with the strength of the one encouraging us to jump.   Rationally, we conclude, there is no way we would trust someone to catch us.   Such is often the case with prayer. We give the impression that prayer is about jumping.  What we sometimes forget is that the little child was willing to jump because she or he had spent more time holding their parent’s hand and being embraced by them. It was that relationship that made the jump even possible. Jesus was aware of this human tendency when He said, “when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8, NLT). The Power of One . . . You!

The Power of One . . . You! (“Winsome Witnesses: The Power of Personal Testimony”) Sabbath School Bible Study July 11, 2020 Larry R Evans Introduction This largest uncut diamond (something over 3,100 carats!) was mined in South Africa in 1905.  It was eventually cut into nine large stones and about one hundred smaller ones. The largest, the “Star of Africa,” is over 530 carats alone and (with the other largest pieces) now resides in the crown jewels of the British royalty.  After its initial discovery, there was much careful deliberation about how to transport this rare and priceless gem from Africa to Britain. As a diversionary tactic, multiple security guards accompanied a decoy shipment by boat to London. But in fact, the actual gem was shipped in a plain brown box by parcel post. Who would suspect such an unassuming package might contain untold wealth? Sometimes the real treasures of life are not seen as they should be.  Paul wrote about this in 2 Cor.

Why Come Out of the Saltshaker?

Why Come Out of the Saltshaker?  Our Guilty Silence July 4, 2020 Sabbath Bible Study Larry R Evans Introduction  Leo Tolstoy once wrote a story about a successful peasant farmer who was not satisfied with his lot. He wanted more of everything. One day he received a novel offer. For 1000 rubles, he could buy all the land he could walk around in a day. The only catch in the deal was that he had to be back at his starting point by sundown.  Early the next morning he started out walking at a fast pace. By midday he was very tired, but he kept going, covering more and more ground. Well into the afternoon he realized that his greed had taken him far from the starting point. He quickened his pace and as the sun began to sink low in the sky, he began to run, knowing that if he did not make it back by sundown the opportunity to become an even bigger landholder would be lost.  As the sun began to sink below the horizon, he came within sight of the finish line.
